LAGSCA was well represented at this event held on November 2-4 at the J.W. Marriott. The One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative was the reason behind the gathering hosted by the KJ Institute. Co-Chairs for the event were Jim Maclellan of the Port of LA and KJC International CEO Zhuo Lin.

Congratulations for the forum were sent by President Trump, Congressman Ed Royce, Mayor Eric Garcetti and other government officials. Attendees came from different organizations ranging from foundations to government to Academia. Catherine Lin moderated the forum.

Awareness of China's ambitious and visionary One Belt One Road megaproject is growing in the US. Because of California's unique relationship with the People's Republic, there is a greater excitement about OBOR than in other parts of the country. This forum brought together different people from China and from Southern California to exchange ideas, make contacts and explore ways to get in on the ground floor with something that can cause a sea change in the way the world economy functions.

On April 27, 2018, 200 guests attended the Belt and Road Forum where many ideas were exchanged with regard to this most high profile of China initiatives. LAGSCA directors Katherine Whitman, K.K. Kwong, Peter Antoniou, Frank Zagar, Buck and Victoria Stapleton attended with Raymond Cheng acting as one of the chief organizers of the event. It was a great success with extensive media coverage. Much feedback and information was exchanged regarding the myriad of opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative. There will be another Belt and Road Summit that will take place on June 28, 2018 in Hong Kong.
