One of the most important programs of LAGSCA is the Lawrence Liu Scholarship designed to honor our founding president. Each year a candidate from the Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office comes to Los Angeles to study at a local university as a visiting scholar. Both the University of California, Northridge and Mount St Mary’s College have hosted our scholars.

The Association receives delegations from all levels of education in Guangzhou for fact finding and training. Troupes of Guangzhou students have been sponsored by the LAGSCA for musical and dance performances in Southern California.

Scientific (Health Care)

LAGSCA assists with The Guangzhou Medical Exchange Program between Los Angeles and Guangzhou. This program focuses on the transfer of reading materials, supplies and technology in the medical field through various educational exchange opportunities.

Three hospitals in China are involved in this ongoing program: Children's Hospital of Guangzhou, First Municipal Hospital of Guangzhou and the Red Cross Hospital of Guangzhou. Delegations of both physician and medical equipment engineers from Los Angeles have visited these hospitals to lecture on clinical and surgical methods as they are evolving in the West and to assist in medical equipment utilization and development.

In return, several Chinese delegations of physicians and medical technicians have visited Los Angeles hospitals to observe and study various medical care procedures.
